New Episodes! 

I decided to use this time during our indiegogo fundraising campaign to write a handful more episodes of FUNNY BONED to showcase our wonderful actors.  Some writers are intimidated by the blank page.  And in all honesty, I also used to be one of those people that thought that starting was the hardest part.  But then one day I remembered something that my dear Irish grandfather used to say all the time: 

"Uaireanta tá greann mhaith ag iarraidh a scríobh litir ghrá ar fad ar meisce pónairí glóthach ar Guinness." 

Of course, none of us ever knew what the feck he was saying, so we would just laugh and laugh and nod knowingly, all the while thinking with bilge twaddle like that, we should maybe consider putting him in a twilight home for the aged.  But later (and by later, I mean, when I outgrew my Battlestar Galactica pajamas), I would come to find out that he was speaking something called Gaelic and what he was saying was really quite profound.  It was something along the lines of, "Sometimes comedy is like trying to write a love letter on jelly beans while drunk on Guinness."  I must agree that is true...sometimes.  But if you have a bunch of interesting characters (like we do in FUNNY BONED) who possess many zany personality quirks (which they do), the comedy practically writes itself.  [Note to self:  give Comic Muse writing credit and demand that She punch up some of the jokes...including some of the ones in this News Brief.  Also, renew Golden Girls Fan Club Membership.]

 

Every comedy series has a naming convention.  FUNNY BONED does too.  Each of our episodes will be named after the set up for a well-known joke.  ("Have you heard the one about The Chicken Crossing The Road," "A Priest, A Rabbi, and A Blonde Walk Into A Bar" etc.)  Of course the title will thematically tie in with the plot and subplot in a variety of ways.  So, stay tuned for a titillating scoop of upcoming episodes you'll be seeing in the New Year.  --JJ
