GRANDMA LENORE
One fifth flapper, one fifth Rosie the Riveter, and three fifths gin--she is is Ruby's tough love grandmother. She means well, but sometimes she's....well...mean. Her candy-coated compliments always come with a bitter criticism center. She says the things we all know are true, but don't want to hear. Her philosophy is "Don't go to the grave with unspoken words or deeds left to be done." Many a time Ruby has wished her grandmother left certain words unspoken. Grandma Lenore has the mouth of a sailor, the stamina of a racehorse, and the loins of an airline hostess.
TY
Ty is a very charismatic, aspiring screenwriter, who --at the moment-- has more heart than skill. Still he is hopeful that his latest screenplay (Missouri Loves Company) will be what launches him to fame. He is always well-dressed, optimistic, and kind. He blames his Mid-West upbringing on his inability to lie, a skill which (if he had it) would take him far in Hollywood. Curt, his boyfriend of five years, teases him about being OCD, but according to Ty, he hasn't been OCD for 3 days, 9 hours, 6 minutes and 37 seconds.
MATT
Matt came to Los Angeles to fulfill his life's dream of working as Waiter to the Stars at Chateau Marmont. But until he can get that big break as a waiter, Matt has been slaving away as a working actor. And while acting is not what he ultimately wants to do, he is surprisingly good at it. Ruggedly good looking, street smart and lovable, he sometimes is not the sharpest knife in the drawer. His lovelife with Sally has been like a Hollywood Tour Bus...on again, off again. He lists "candy corn" as his favorite vegetable.
RUBY
Ruby is Sally's best friend since they met as toddlers at a Nanny and Me yoga class. She is petite, but brassy (she is the mouth that roared). As a Sagittarian she is creative, loyal, and brutally honest (those arrows go straight and deep). She loves to be loved, but hates to be criticized. She protects her softer side with an ironclad sense of sarcasm. Ruby is über-competitive with her twin sister, Aggie. A former employee of a major national book retailer, her encyclopedic knowledge and photographic memory maker her the brains of the operation. Ruby has 3 pet cats and 100 pet peeves.
CURT
Curt is Ty's boyfriend of 5 years. Where Ty is an organizer and a planner, Curt is spontaneous and free spirited. Like many animal lovers as a kid, he dreamt of being a veterinarian. That dream came to a screeching halt when his pet python swallowed his guinea pig Pickles, his cat Buttons, and his little sister Kelly's Hello Kitty backpack. Even though he is currently living in NYC to finish his teaching degree so he can teach kindergarten, he stays connected with Ty by Skyping daily. Curt's favorite flavor of ice cream is "everything!"
SALLY
Up until recently Sally has enjoyed a successful career as a stage, film, and TV actress. Relying on the extensive training she received at the Yale School of Drama Summer Intensive Workshop for Actors Looking for Impressive Credits for Their Resume, she says she is comfortable in both comic & dramatic roles, but is more comfortable in slacks. Sally starred as Fanny Tickle in the runaway hit reality show, Casting Couch Potato, and even though no new offers have come in since the Network pulled the plug on Potato, she remains optimistic, because she is the sort of "scrappy gal who always lands on her feet." She often assumes the role of hostess and Den Mother to the group, priding herself on her homemade snackatizers. In spite of the fact that she recently broke up with Matt, they remain the best of friends.
LARRAINE
Larraine Prosciutto is Sally's longtime friend/Hair & Make-up Artist. Hailing from New Jersey (the Garden State!) she got her start in hair, teasing her nine brothers and sisters. She would often cut and restyle her siblings' hair (not very well) while they slept soundly. It wouldn't have been a typical morning in the Prosciutto household if the day didn't start with shrieks of outrage and a demand for Larraine to be brought to justice. But what started out as a practical joke, soon developed into a love of hair. Larraine's favorite hair color is Startled Fawn.
